When we are talking about the point spread we mean the number that goes along with each game. You’ll see two teams:

School A +5
School B -5

The plus and minus 5 is the point spread and this is the number that is used to even out the betting on both sides of the game. The odds makers want even action so they can take the juice as the profit.
