We really like the road team in this matchup. The Pirates (57-58) are at 10-23 one of the worst teams in baseball against left-handed starters, and Mets LHP Sean Manaea (3-5, 4.33 ERA) has been one of the Mets' (48-66) most effective starters over the past month.
Manaea has thrown six or more innings and allowed two runs or fewer in three consecutive starts and in four of his past five outings. Furthermore, Manaea has a 2.81 ERA in three starts and six career appearances overall against Pittsburgh.

We really like the over in this matchup. The Cardinals (58-59) bring a lineup capable of exploiting weak pitching, making this a prime spot against Colorado RHP Michael Lorenzen.
Lorenzen (3-10, 6.94 ERA) has struggled mightily to keep run totals down all year, backed by a inflated WHIP and an aggressive Colorado bullpen that routinely surrenders late runs.
St. Louis RHP Michael McGreevy (4-9, 3.59 ERA) has posted solid ERA numbers, but the Rockies (46-71) have shown plenty of pop in recent games, and both bullpen units have logged heavy usage over the weekend series.

We really like the road team in this matchup. The Cubs (68-50) have been rolling lately, and had won five straight prior to a 6-3 loss Saturday, as they continue their push in the NL Central division race. That momentum aligns well with LHP Matthew Boyd taking the mound. Boyd (7-1, 3.59 ERA) has been remarkably consistent this season, and Chicago boasts a dominant 6-1 record straight up and against the spread in games where he gets the start as a moneyline favorite, and KC has had difficulties with left-handed pitching all season.
Kansas City hands the ball to RHP Randy Dobnak (2-0, 1.16 ERA), whose numbers look impressive, but the Royals (49-69) have struggled to find consistent success overall, losing six of their last ten contests.
This is a 4% play on the CUBS -1.5!

BETTING STRATEGY
You have to commit to daily research on team strengths and weaknesses. The players themselves do better in certain situations and matchups with other players and teams. If a team is on a winning streak there are other factors involved other than they are "hot".
You must understand why that is and know when that type of situation no longer presents itself so you can be ready to change your play instantly. We take each game on its own value for that particular day and the matchup that is available to see if the game has value.
Just as important are the lines offered by the books to complement the game in deciding whether or not it is worth the risk. We take the pieces of this puzzle and put it together to form my picks that give my team the best possible chance to win at the best possible price.
