NBA 100 DIME GAME PISTONS +2 This one is going to be a rematch of the season opener for both teams last Wednesday in Indiana when the Pistons came up with the victory. The Pacers are having some problems getting things going on the defensive end in the first two games as they’ve given up at least 110 points in both games. Detroit has been decent on the offensive end and the punch they’ve gotten from Rose is a nice addition for their bench group. The Pistons are at home and already own a win over the Pacers: look for them to beat Indiana for the second time in a week as Drummond and Rose lead the way.

NBA 100 DIME GAME BULLS -1 With the Knicks undergoing a full rebuild, expectations are very low in the Big Apple. The team has played as expected but they have also been competitive in two of their first three games. Even though the Knicks have won the last two games in this rivalry, the Bulls have the advantage in this game because they have played well against the spread on the road and also have a favorable matchup against the Knicks. The battle between the frontcourt of the two teams should even out with R.J. Barrett and Julius Randle going up against Lauri Markkanen and Wendell Carter Jr. However, the Bulls are better on the perimeter with Zach LaVine and Coby White going up against Elfrid Payton and Allonzo Trier, which will help the Bulls get the win.

COLLEGE HOOPS 100 DIME GAME DUKE -7 The Blue Devils were able to advance to the Sweet Sixteen, but they did show some vulnerabilities, particularly Tre Jones’ struggles shooting the ball. He went 5-of-15 from the floor and 1-of-8 from 3-pointer on a night where the Knights basically dared him to shoot. The Hokies could essentially attempt to employ the same strategy of putting a guard on Williamson and leaving Jones out on an island. However, one has to think Duke will be better prepared for that defensive wrinkle this time around. UCF’s game plan was unique and seemingly caught the Blue Devils off guard. Not to mention they also had the presence of 7-foot-6 center Tacko Fall to challenge Williamson at the rim. Virginia Tech is a tremendous defensive team, but their personnel won’t be able to match up with Duke’s offense like UCF did. The combination of Williamson and Barrett will give them fits the same way they have every other team they’ve faced this season. Williamson wasn’t on the floor the last time these two teams met in the regular season. The Hokies are about to learn how much of a difference one man can make. I’m taking the Blue Devils in this game.

Furthermore, the Tar Heels offense should be able to have their way offensively. UNC is shooting a solid 36.5% from three-point range, and the Tigers three-point defense stands down at 223rd in the country. Lastly, the Tar Heels have limited their two opponents to a field goal percentage below 41% in both of their tournament wins.

He is going to wind up handling the ball more regardless of who replaces Howard in the starting lineup, and that is a concern because of how it affects how he gets others involved in the offense for Syracuse. The spread is small enough where the Orange can still cover and perhaps even comfortably because of their defense — but on the surface, it does look like they will need time for players to figure out their roles without Howard running the point.

His absence will put the Raptors in a bind on the road against a Thunder team that is trying to keep from slipping all the way to the bottom of the Western Conference playoff rankings. The return of Westbrook will be a huge lift for the struggling Thunder, and I expect him to respond emphatically after being suspended and turning in a seven-point scoring performance against the Warriors.

NBA 100 DIME GAME 221 OVER We’re looking at a couple of teams that are pretty sharp on the defensive end of the floor, which is going to be a serious challenge. The Nuggets are still chasing the Warriors for the top spot in the Western Conference as they have opened a little breathing room in the Northwest Division. Boston is trying to gain ground on Indiana or Philadelphia to gain homecourt advantage in the opening round of the playoffs. The Celtics are banged up, and the defense will be light. The Bulldogs are playing on their home floor in this contest but they’re going to be facing a veteran team in the Crimson. Tommy Amaker has his team ready to go and Aiken is the big factor here. This has always been a decent matchup for the ‘Noles and this season appears to be no different. They have the bodies to bang with Williamson and company, plus the Devils are not deep and they were thoroughly exhausted at the end of their semifinal thriller. Duke is 0-3-1 ATS in its last four against the ACC, 1-3-1 ATS in their last five at neutral sites, and 0-7 ATS in its last seven following a win. The Seminoles are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings between the two teams.

COLLEGE HOOPS 100 DIME GAME MICHIGAN ST -5 Happ had 20 points in that first meeting so there’s no way he’s scoring four this time. The one thing that bothers me about Michigan State aside from the injuries to Langford and Ward not playing at 100% yet, is their inability to guard the three-point shot. That probably also concerns Tom Izzo because Wisconsin can control the tempo, get the ball to Happ in the post and he’ll move the ball to the perimeter, where the Badgers have a bunch of good three-point shooters.

COLLEGE HOOPS 100 DIME GAME AUBURN -160 One gets the sense Auburn is gathering steam after a mature performance against South Carolina given the Gamecocks had the Tigers’ number in recent games. Harper and Brown are peaking at the right time, and this is a favorable matchup given the Gators do not have an imposing frontcourt that could give them issues like South Carolina could. With Florida, one has to consider the letdown factor after such a huge win in terms of beating the regular-season conference champion and having everyone tell the Gators they are now comfortably in the NCAA Tournament field after toppling the Tigers a second time. This may be a game where Auburn can put its foot on the pedal and pull away for a victory.

The Jayhawks are trying to get by with secondary options. Lawson is a force in the low block and that is going to be a massive undertaking for Texas, especially Osetkowski, to handle. The Jayhawks have been here before and they should have a fair amount of crowd support with the Sprint Center being within relative shouting distance of Lawrence. Georgetown relies on their offense to win games, however, Seton Hall defends reasonably well, and they limited the Hoyas to 45% and 35% shooting in their two meetings. Furthermore, the Hoyas defense often lands them in trouble. Georgetown has squandered an average of 82.2 points in their last five games overall. Seton Hall was able to score 79 points against Villanova on the weekend, and I expect them to exploit the Hoyas’ weak defense.

The Raptors are in a much safer position in the playoff picture than the Heat, who is trying to fight off the Hornets, Magic and Wizards for the final playoff spot at this point. Miami isn’t a great home team, as we’ve seen by their 15-18 home mark. Toronto is really scuffling without VanVleet to run the offense for the second unit and he’s going to be out another couple weeks it sounds like. Leonard has been ruled out for “load management” as they try to keep him fresh for the postseason by limiting his minutes down the stretch. That tilts the needle toward the Heat, who knows that every win is important at this stretch. Look for Miami to find a way to claw out the victory here.

The Huskies posted a sharp 54% clip from the field while limiting Oregon State to 46% shooting. David Crisp led the way offensively with 22 points on a 7 for 9 shooting performance. The senior guard has shot above 60% in two out of his last three games, and he stands second in team scoring with 12.9 PPG. Huskies’ top scorer Jaylen Nowell is also playing well. The sophomore guard scored 18 points in Wednesday’s win, and he is carrying an average of 16.3 PPG on 50% shooting, paired with 5.5 RPG. Oregon is a tough school, but they are not strong on the road. It almost seems rudimentary to say this with a legendary coach like Mike Krzyzewski at the helm, but the Blue Devils need to get back in their playbook and setup their offense. It’s hard trusting them on the road against a team like North Carolina after they almost got knocked off by Wake Forest at home. They won’t have to deal with the shock of not having Williamson in the rematch against the Tar Heels. They know he’s not coming back for this game, and they’ll be forced to try to slow down one of the best offenses in the country without their best defender. Williamson masks so many problems for the Blue Devils, and his absence has only magnified those issues. This isn’t even close to the same Duke team we saw before Williamson went down, and North Carolina will once again prey on the wounded Blue Devils like sharks in water. Give me the Tar Heels in this game.

COLLEGE HOOPS 100 DIME GAME 167 UNDER Duke won’t last long in the NCAA tournament without Williamson on the floor. COLLEGE HOOPS 100 DIME GAME COLORADO -7 Colorado has won eight of 12 meetings against USC since joining the Pac-12 in 2011. Included in that number is the Buffaloes’ 69-65 road win on Feb. 9, when Wright scored 20 points and Colorado shot 49.1 percent and finished with a 38 to 29 rebound advantage. The Buffaloes are tops in the Pac-12 with a 5.5 average rebound margin, while USC ranks 10th with a minus-1.7 margin. USC is 2-6 ATS in its last eight against the Pac-12, 5-11 ATS in its last 16 against opponents with winning percentages over .600, and 1-8 ATS in its last nine on the road against opponents with winning home records. The Buffaloes are 7-2 ATS in their last nine against the Pac-12 and 5-1 ATS in their last six following a win.

COLLEGE HOOPS 100 DIME GAME 125.5 OVER The Cavaliers have been dominating ACC opponents on the defensive end of the floor, which is no easy feat. Virginia ranks second in the nation in both offense and defense this year and both of their losses came at the hands of the vaunted Duke Blue Devils. Meanwhile, Louisville enters this matchup losing three of their last four, which includes a 12-point loss to Virginia on Feb. 23. Virginia wins 74-66.

COLLEGE HOOPS 100 DIME GAME NORTHERN IOWA +3 The Panthers have an alright defense, but very little offense. They used to have elite three-point shooters, but now they’re average at best from beyond the arc. Their offense really needs more dominant scorers who can carry the load, and they have just one player averaging double-digit scoring. Their offense ranks 219th nationally on Kenpom, which isn’t going to cut it here. Another reason I’m not bullish on the Panthers’ chances is the experience gap. Northern Iowa’s best player, the only one averaging more than ten points per game, is a freshman. A.J. Green is a good player, but he’s never played in a game like this before. Experience matters a ton in these conference tournament games, and the Panthers don’t have much of it. They’re a relatively young team going up against one of the most experienced teams in college basketball that is made up almost entirely of seniors. It’s a huge gap, and it will prove costly here. They also don’t have any momentum as they enter this one off two straight losses, including a blowout loss to a really bad Indiana State team. Northern Iowa for the upset

COLLEGE HOOPS 100 DIME GAME ST JOES +12 Saint Joseph’s (13-17, 6-11 A-10) could be seeded anywhere from ninth to 11th for the upcoming Atlantic 10 tournament at Barclays Center depending on this game and results involving La Salle and Richmond on Saturday. The Hawks’ uneven season continued with an 86-85 overtime loss at home to Rhode Island on Tuesday night, denying them their first three-game winning streak since opening the season 3-0

COLLEGE HOOPS 100 DIME GAME 160 UNDER Both Austin Peay and Belmont can put up some major points. Belmont will win this game at home. Austin Peay plays great at home, but they struggle putting up the high points on the road. I like the total around 156 points.

Rutgers just gave Iowa a beating in the last game on the road, which was embarrassing. The Badgers have played well against the spread, winning five of their last seven games against teams with winning records and 10 of their last 14 home games against teams with winning road records. The Hawkeyes have struggled against the spread, losing their last six games and four of their last five games against teams with winning records.
