Baylor Bears vs SMU Mustangs Line September 4, 2015

The #4 Baylor Bears (11-2) will visit the SMU Mustangs (1-11) on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas, Texas. The game will televise at 7 pm ET on ESPN. The current odds list Baylor as 35-point favorites with the over/under set at 74.

Junior quarterback Seth Russell will lead the team this year. In eight games last year, he threw for over 800 yards and also added 8 touchdowns. He will have the dynamic duo returning this year giving him his top two targets back. Corey Coleman and KD Cannon both had over 1,000 yards receiving and combined for 19 touchdowns. Junior running back Linwood will look to have another great season after rushing for over 1200 yards and adding 16 touchdowns. The Bears are 5-0-1 ATS in their last six games in September and 4-1 ATS in their last five Friday games.

SMU will look to forget about last season and will try to build off of it with new head coach Chad Morris. Matt Davis will take the snaps this year, who finished the final five games as starting quarterback in 2014 where the Mustangs offense ranked almost dead last. This team is coming in with new running backs and receivers to try and turn this offense around. This will be a building year for this young team and the new coach has his work cut out for him. The Mustangs are 0-8 ATS in their last eight non-conference games and 0-6 ATS in their last six games in September.

My Pick: Baylor -35

This is a lot of points to give up but the Mustangs are that bad. The first few games should be ugly for this offense and while I think they will have a much better year than they did last year, I think it will take some time before the head coach gets this offense the way he wants it.
