NFL 100 DIME GAME BUCS -4 Tampa Bay’s defense has fallen into a pattern where they start off slow in the first half, but then clamp things down in the second. Last week’s game in Carolina is a great example, where they allowed just six points after halftime. They need to play a full four quarters, and hopefully stay away from the soft zone coverage. If the Bucs get pressure home, it’ll be a long day for the Rams offense, and the Bucs can gain an important conference win in the NFC to help their position on the playoff standings.

NFL 100 DIME GAME BILLS +3 It's a little unusual to rave about the defensive performance of a team that gave up 34 points, but the Bills (7-2) were up on Seattle by 27-10 in the third quarter last week before largely easing off on defense and cruising to a 44-34 victory. Regardless of the points allowed, Buffalo sacked Russell Wilson five times, hit him another 11 times, pulled down two interceptions and recovered two fumbles. Not bad, considering it was facing an M.V.P. candidate who leads the highest scoring offense in the N.F.L. This week has nearly as difficult a challenge. The Cardinals (5-3) can do considerable damage, thanks to the running and passing of quarterback Kyler Murray, and would get an enormous boost if running back Kenyan Drake could return from an ankle injury. With Buffalo's Josh Allen coming off perhaps the best game of his career, it was no surprise for oddsmakers to predict this would be the highest scoring game of the week. But if Buffalo's defense can perform near the standard it established last week, the Bills can walk away with a road win to be proud of.

NFL 100 DIME GAME 45 OVER This is the type of game that the Browns always seem to find a way to lose rather than win, but they may have already gotten that out of their system against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Texans are not playing well right now, especially on defense as they have managed to give up more points than the Browns, are allowing 5.1 yards per carry and 159.5 rushing yards per game. The Browns should be able to exploit that, especially if running back Nick Chubb and right guard Wyatt Teller return as expected. Cleveland’s defense will have problems with Houston quarterback Deshaun Watson - they struggle against any quarterback at this point - but should be able to do enough to keep Watson in check. It won’t be easy, because nothing ever is for the Browns, but Cleveland will continue its playoff push with a win.

NFL 100 DIME GAME 49 UNDER The forecasted weather is certainly something to consider, but the guess here is that the Packers respond to the elements better this time around and take care of business against an inferior opponent at home. James Robinson is a good player, but he’s not Dalvin Cook, and the Jaguars are starting a rookie at quarterback. The Packers should score more than enough points against the league’s 31st ranked scoring defense to get the job done, even if the weather limits some of the downfield passing. Aaron Jones is back, and that could make all the difference on Sunday. Packers by a couple of touchdowns.

CFB 100 DIME GAME UCF The UCF quarterback has been nothing short of spectacular. He’s thrown for 21 touchdowns in just six games, with only two interceptions. His interception-to-attempt ratio (0.14) is on pace to be the lowest in school history. The only quarterbacks who have thrown for more yards than Gabriel’s 2,506 are SMU’s Shane Buechele (2,581) and BYU’s Zach Wilson (2,511). Of course, Buechele and Wilson have also played two more games than Dillon. One would think there wouldn’t be enough footballs to go around, but the Knights also boast two running backs in the top 40 in rushing yards. When Greg McCrae (496 rushing yards) was banged up early, shifty senior Otis Anderson (480 rushing yards) more than picked up the slack. Now that McCrae is fully healthy, he has also been gashing opposing defenses. Look for this one-two punch to each surpass the 100-yard plateau against Temple. Why, then, has this team lost two football games? Simply put, the defense is not holding up its end of the bargain. The Knights rank 64th in opponent yards per rush attempt and 87th in opponent yards per pass attempt, yielding 8.1 yards per pass. To make matters worse, the defense will be without four players who were counted on at the beginning of the season. Starting safety Antwan Collier, linebacker Eric Mitchell, and defensive linemen Kenny Turnier and Randy Charlton were dismissed from the team. This stemmed from an off-the-field incident prior to the Houston game. Temple is dealing with a banged up quarterback. The offense is already horrible, and I expect a big blowout.

CFB 100 DIME GAME BAYLOR With the number of marquee games around the country dwindling this weekend, this contest may find more eyes on it than your typical matchup of teams residing in the bottom half of the Big 12. Is that a good thing? Each team owns just one conference win this year. Texas Tech offensive coordinator David Yost will probably want SaRodorick Thompson to carry the rock frequently against Baylor's unimposing defensive front. In turn, that should take some pressure off of his quarterbacks. Both Utah State transfer Henry Colombi and oft-injured Alex Bowman are expected to see snaps against Baylor.

No. This is far from being a polished product. But Coach Schiano has the ship steered in the right direction. Competent quarterback play, an offensive playbook that should keep defenses on its heels and a defense that fights through all four quarters. That would’ve been a wish list a year ago for most fans. He’s averaging 117.3 receiving yards a game, and he already has four touchdown catches after finishing last season with six. NFL 100 DIME GAME CARDINALS -5.5 The Cardinals have the defensive front that can make things uncomfortable for him when dropping back to pass. By the time the fourth quarter rolls around, the rookie quarterback will be seeing ghosts, goblins and ghouls in the pocket. That will lead to the sort of turnovers teams typically expect from a young signal-caller. The only difference this time is the defense won’t be able to bail him out. Murray will outgun Tagovailoa on the other end by leaning on Chase Edmonds and the rushing attack. The Dolphins have proven to be soft against the run, and you can rest assured the Cardinals will look to exploit those struggles every chance they get. Just wait for Murray’s play-action fake and deep pass to All-Pro wideout DeAndre Hopkins. That knockout punch will come at some point when the Dolphins defense is selling out to the run, and then it’ll be game over. I’m laying the points and taking Arizona in this one.

In their last two games, they have only given up 294 passing yards combined. The Bills defense has also forced 3 turnovers in their last two games. NFL 100 DIME GAME BEARS +6.5 While the Bears sport a top-10 defense overall that is giving up just 20.8 points per game, this has been more of a bend-but-don’t-break unit. Chicago hasn’t exactly been shutting down opposing offenses entirely, as evidenced by their pass and run defense ranking 12th and 16th, respectively. This is going to be the week that Chicago’s defense breaks a bit. Derrick Henry finds room to run on the ground, and Ryan Tannehill and the Tennessee passing attack get back on track. Of course, Tennessee’s defense is a mess and the secondary is riddled with injuries, so I don’t expect much to change in this game, but the Titans’ unit does just enough to secure a win on Sunday against what has been a lackluster Bears offense this season.

Oregon vs Stanford is always one of the better games of the year, and these two teams always play each other tough. I think this game on paper looks like a game in which both defenses will play well and this game follows the traditional path of being a lower scoring game. I am going the opposite direction. New faces in Oregon's secondary, a poor 2019 defense in Stanford is down multiple starters this year. I think we see a lot of points scored. Oregon is a 10-point favorite, and I think we see the Cardinal cover in the smallest of margins.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL 100 DIME GAME CLEMSON -5 Clemson is the No. 1 team in the nation, the Tigers come to South Bend without star quarterback Trevor Lawrence and a shorthanded defense. The best path for a win by the Fighting Irish starts by winning the battle in the trenches on offense, allowing Kyren Williams and Chris Tyree to find running room behind a standout offensive line. Quarterback Ian Book doesn’t need huge numbers, but the senior needs to hit on a big play or two, consistently connect on the midrange passes and keep drives alive on third downs. Defensively, Notre Dame has to keep Travis Etienne in check and force a receiver outside of Amari Rodgers to win this game. The Fighting Irish and Tigers battle for four quarters, but D.J. Uiagalelei makes a couple of big plays in the second half, while Clemson’s defense steps up with the game on the line to pull out the victory in South Bend.

The Nittany Lions have defensive talent, but they’ll be rolling out the red carpet for a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate this season. Fields will do more with his arm in this outing, while leaning more on the combination of Teague and Sermon in the offensive backfield. The Buckeyes finished against Nebraska with a 62 percent third-down conversion percentage in their last outing. CFB 100 DIME GAME KANSAS ST -20 This isn't groundbreaking news, but Kansas is terrible. And I'm talking worse than we all realized in that opening loss to Coastal Carolina. In their last two games, the Jayhawks averaged 175.0 yards of total offense while allowing 568.5. Kansas State's offense has been outgained by at least 50 yards in all four games this season, but the Wildcats should snap that streak in emphatic fashion while extending their 11-game winning streak in this rivalry. NFL 100 DIME GAME PACKERS -129 the Packers offensive line has dominated, and Kenny Clark’s return could rejuvenate the Packers’ pass-rush. The Buccaneers can certainly rush the quarterback too, and Todd Bowles’ defense could create some unique problems, but Tom Brady has been up and down, the Bucs offensive line is mistake-prone and it’s tough to know how the defensive front will adjust to losing Vita Vea, Tampa Bay’s version of Clark. The guess here is that a tight game comes down to the final minutes, and the Packers’ pass-rush makes a play and Rodgers leads a late scoring drive to win it. Packers 24, Buccaneers 23
