12-18-09 | Los Angeles Clippers v. New York Knicks OVER 200 | Top | 91-95 | Loss | -100 | 26 h 41 m | Show |
High Roller Total: Clippers/Knicks Over.
The Clippers may not play much defense, but they sure found their offensive this week, scoring 97 and 120 the last two games. Chris Kaman, Marcus Camby and Baron Davis are all finally healthy at the same time, and what a difference it is making for the Clippers. Kaman had 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Camby had 10 points, 18 rebounds, six assists and five blocks to lead the Clippers to a 120-95 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday. Davis had 13 points and 13 assists and Eric Gordon scored 25 for the Clippers. Two of their last three games have gone OVER the total. They take on an uptempo NY team that plays no defense, averaging 103 ppg on offense but allowing 106 ppg. The Clippers are rested while the Knicks had to play last night at Chicago, the end of a 3-game trip, so look for the visitors and their potent offense to run right at the home team. An excellent spot for a game with far more offense than defense. Play the Clippers/Knicks Over the total. |

12-09-09 | Portland Trail Blazers v. Indiana Pacers UNDER 191 | Top | 102-91 | Loss | -100 | 25 h 49 m | Show |
20-Star High Roller Total: Blazers/Pacers Under the total.
Both teams are hurting with injuries to their top offensive players. Portland has gone 2 straight under the total scoring 90 and 84 points, and that was 84 points against the run and gun (and defenseless NY Knicks). Greg Oden had season-ending surgery Sunday, Rudy Fernandez (sciatic pain) is out, joining Travis Outlaw (broken left foot) and Nicolas Batum (right shoulder surgery). And coach Nate McMillan wasn't around either after having surgery Monday in Vancouver, Wash. "It's not normal," acting head coach Dean Demopoulos said. The Indiana Pacers have lost scoring leader Danny Granger for at least four weeks with a foot injury. He averages 24.4 points per game. "We're losing an All-Star player," Jim O'Brien said. "It's a big loss." They are also on a 2-0 run under the total, scoring 87 and 72 points the last two games. This total is far too high; Play the Blazers/Pacers Under the total. |

11-18-09 | Detroit Pistons v. Portland Trail Blazers UNDER 178 | Top | 81-87 | Win | 100 | 27 h 16 m | Show |
High Roller Total: Pistons/Blazers Under the total.
Detroit is playing defense this season, allowing 42% shooting -- 4th best in the league -- and 91.5 ppg. But their best offensive players are banged up. Tayshaun Prince is not able to play with a small ruptured disc in his back. Rip Hamilton (severely twisted right ankle) also is on the trip, but won't play any of the four games either. This is the second of a 4-game road trip out West. The unfortunate catch for them here is that they play an even better defensive team. The Blazers came into this season asking Greg Oden to focus on defense, rebounding and blocked shots. That makes sense with all the offensive talent on this team. Well the kid is talented and delivering, helping Portland to a league best .412% shooting by opponents and 88 ppg allowed. That explains an 8-4 mark under the total. Defense fueled their impressive 4-1 road trip, and now they are home. The defensive number on the trip are impressive: Opponents averaged 82.8 points and 39% shooting. Look for a very low scoring tilt here. Play the Pistons/Blazers Under the total. |

11-13-09 | Utah Jazz v. Philadelphia 76ers OVER 198 | Top | 112-90 | Win | 100 | 23 h 25 m | Show |
High Roller Total: Jazz/76ers Over.
A pair of young, uptempo offenses meet. The problem for Utah on the season has not been offense, a strong attack averaging 99 ppg. It's the defense that has been dormant, allowing 103 ppg, in the bottom 10 in the NBA. In the Jazz's 105-86 loss to the Boston Celtics, they never led and trailed by 22 after three quarters. They are now 1-3 on the road and giving up 102.8 points a game after stressing improvement in both areas entering the season. "Especially with all the emphasis on defense and talk about defense," Deron Williams said. "We haven't put much of an effort up." Jazz coach Jerry Sloan benched Carlos Boozer and Mehmet Okur early in the third for Paul Millsap and Kyrylo Fesenko. Fortunately, they face a team here that is equally bad on defense, with Philly allowing over 102 ppg. The 76ers are allowing opponents to shoot a whopping .479% by opponents, 6th worst in the NBA (Utah is rankd 19th). Look for an offensive show in this one, Play the Jazz/76ers Over the total. |

11-05-09 | San Antonio Spurs v. Utah Jazz OVER 201 | Top | 99-113 | Win | 100 | 29 h 45 m | Show |
High Roller Total: Spurs/Jazz Over.
San Antonio has the reputation as a dominant defensive team, but that was the old days when Tim Duncan was younger. The Spurs are a good defensive team, but most impressive is an offense averaging 103 ppg. They are 2-1 over the total. Utah comes home and everyone is frustrated in their 1-3 starts. There's nothing wrong with the offense, averaging 99 ppg (3-1 over the total), but the defense has been poor, allowing 105 ppg. In the last game, a collapse at Dallas, the team gave up 44 fourth quarter points to blow another game! In the end, the Jazz made history, equaling their third-largest blown lead to start the fourth quarter in a loss. Twenty-four hours after they were humbled at home by Houston, the Jazz were left with another crushing loss. The Jazz also opted not to double-team Nowitzki -- with Jerry Sloan fearful of leaving Jason Terry and Jason Kidd open for three-pointers. That's a problem here, too, as the Spurs love for the big men to throw it outside for open three-pointers when teams double-team in the low post. The last 4 meetings between these teams the OVER is 4-0. Play the Spurs/Jazz Over the total. |

11-04-09 | Philadelphia Phillies v. New York Yankees OVER 9 | Top | 3-7 | Win | 100 | 26 h 33 m | Show |
World Series Total of the Year: Game 6 Over.
NY was a dominant 57-24 at home during the regular season in their new Yankee Stadium. This park is small, a homer-happy place which only aided their All-Star lineup. Now they come home after scoring 21 runs in 7 games in Philadelphia -- which means they pick the DH back up for this game. 38-year old Pedro Martinez was able to throw pretty well in Game 2, but his fastball is long gone and he still allowed 3 runs in 6 innings. NY is playing with so much offensive confidence since then. We also don't know what 37-year old Andy Pettitte (4.16 ERA) will have on 3 days rest. Look for another offensive show between these powerful offensive teams and suspect bullpens. Play the Phillies/NY Yankees Game 6 over the total. |

Both these coaches demand tough defense from their players, ranked No. 4 and No. 7 in points allowed last season. Playoff Total of the Year: Game 5 Yankees/Angels Over.
Offense has been the theme of these two teams all season, ranked No. 1 and 2 in the league in runs scored. John Lackey was roughed up by NY in the first meeting, giving up 9 hits (12 base runners) and 4 runs un 5+ innings. And that was in cold NY, now things are warmer in Southern Cal. The Angels have power and average at the plate on offense, as well as speed on the base paths. You never now what you will get out of A.J. Burnett, and he has a 4.59 ERA on the road. He is also prone to walking batters and the Angels hit .306 off him in 2009. Look for an offensive show, play the Yankees/Angels Game 5 Over the total. |

10-16-09 | Pittsburgh v. Rutgers UNDER 44.5 | Top | 24-17 | Win | 100 | 26 h 38 m | Show |
High Roller Total: Pitt/Rutgers Under the total.
A couple of teams that prefer to run the football meet, plus the weather report is lousy: 43 degrees, 60% chance of rain, feels like 36 degrees, plus 15 MPH winds. Pitt's defense has a lot of talent, shutting down the Navy ground game earlier in a 27-14 victory, allowing 218 yards (129 rushing). The Panthers have been relentless against opposing quarterbacks, ranking fourth in the country in sacks per game (4.25). The running game is carrying the load behind All-star Anthony Davis at left tackle, Caleb Ruch and Art Forst on the line, plus senior RB Kordell Young and junior RB Jourdan Brooks. Rutgers has a first-year QB in freshman QB Tom Savage and the defense is tough, led by senior DE George Johnson on a physical front line. Look for a grind-it-out, defensive battle, play Pitt/Rutgers Under the total. |

10-15-09 | Philadelphia Phillies v. Los Angeles Dodgers OVER 7 | Top | 8-6 | Win | 100 | 50 h 1 m | Show |
High Roller: Phillies/Dodgers Over the total.
There's a lot of talented offense on the field, the two top power teams in the NL. The Phillies have a sizzling offense: In 4 games against Colorado, the offense scored 5, 4, 6 and 5 runs. Cole Hamels was an ace last season, carrying the Phillies in October. But this ain't 2008 and Hamels is a different pitcher (10-11, 4.23 ERA). The team is 0-4 his last four starts, giving up 17 runs in 21 innings! Look for an offensive show, play the Phillies/Dodgers Over the total. |

10-15-09 | Cincinnati Bearcats v. South Florida Bulls UNDER 50 | Top | 34-17 | Loss | -110 | 25 h 31 m | Show |
Thursday Night College Football "Total" of the Year: Cincinnati/South Florida Under the total.
South Florida wins with a fierce defense and this Cincinnati (5-0 SU, 3-1 ATS) defense is under the radar, allowing 14.4 ppg. Everyone focuses on their high powered offense under senior QB Tony Pike (13 TDs, 3 picks). This is their 4th road game in 6 games. South Florida (5-0 SU, 2-0 ATS) is even better, allowing 9.4 points per game, led by pass rushing terror George Selvie and Jason Pierre-Paul, an unforgiving, ball-hawking unit with 16 forced turnovers through five games. Just ask Florida State, a team they shut down 17-7. Redshirt freshman QB B.J. Daniels (4 TDs, 2 INTs) has had to step in the last 2 games for injured QB Matt Grothe, who will miss the rest of the season after tearing the ACL. A year ago Cincy was a home dog but beat South Florida in a defensive duel, 24-10. This will be, too. Play Cincinnati/South Florida Under the total. |

10-07-09 | St. Louis Cardinals v. Los Angeles Dodgers UNDER 7 | Top | 3-5 | Loss | -115 | 27 h 12 m | Show |
High Roller Baseball Total: Cardinals/Dodgers Under Game 1.
There's one dominant ace on the hill for this game in Chris Carpenter (17-4, 2.24 ERA). His last three starts: 0, 2, 1 run allowed. He's had a monster season and has been even better on the road, at 9-2 with a 2.05 ERA. He's thrown 15 innings against LA this season and has a 1.80 ERA. And Dodger stadium is a huge park, tough to score runs in. When you look close at the numbers you can see why lefty Randy Wolf (11-7) got the call in Game 1: 3.23 ERA, few walks, and consistent all season. His last 6 starts: 2, 2, 3, 2, 2, 2 runs allowed. The weather is not sunny-LA warm, either, at 56 at night, which helps the pitchers. Look for another great pitcher's duel in Dodger stadium as both managers have their best bullpen arms available: Play Cardinals/Dodgers Game 1 Under the total. |

09-27-09 | New Orleans Saints v. Buffalo Bills OVER 51 | Top | 27-7 | Loss | -110 | 13 h 46 m | Show |
The Saints (2-0 SU/ATS) had the top offense in the NFL last season and look even better after crushing the Lions, 45-27, and the Eagles, 48-22. Sure, they want to improve the defense, but why mess up a good thing? Their 311 yards passing per game in 2008 was No. 1. QB Drew Brees (9 TDs, 2 picks) has been sensational, with 358 yards on 26-of-34 passing against the Lions and 311 yards (25-of-34) against the Eagles. The Eagles have a great secondary, but were no match for New Orleans WRs Marques Colston, Devery Henderson and TE Jeremy Shockey, plus RB Reggie Bush as a pass catcher out of the backfield. Buffalo (1-1 SU/2-0 ATS) has new looks on offense, with QB Trent Edwards (4 TDs, 1 pick) running a no-huddle attack, plus they add WR Terrell Owens. That's a good move with T.O. and WR Lee Evans. The defense and special teams are tough, frustrating the Patriots offense in the opener before a big collapse in a 25-24 defeat. But they bounced back with a 33-20 home win over Tampa Bay, with 438 yards (218 rushing). RB Marshawn Lynch (1,036 yds rushing) is out the first 3 games (suspension). RB Fred Jackson has filled in for Lynch and has been good, particularly as a pass catcher out of the backfield. Don't expect the Brees train to be derailed in this one as the Bills look to match them point for point in a high scoring affair.

09-23-09 | Seattle Mariners v. Tampa Bay Rays OVER 9 | Top | 4-5 | Push | 0 | 24 h 50 m | Show |
High Roller Total: Mariners/Rays Over the total.
The Mariners found some offense when they hung 7 on the Yankees in the finale game of their series. Heading to Tampa Bay can only help, a great hitter's park indoors. There should be plenty of men on base this game as both pitchers allow too many free passes. Brandon Morrow of Seatle has walked 39 in 56 innings! His last three starts he has an ERA of 5.17 walking 12 in just 15 innings. That's a very poor 12-6 walk to K ratio. Tampa Bay broke out of its long losing streak because the offense ended its skid. Starter Wade Davis goes here, and he is still learning the game (4.34 ERA) while averaging just 6 innings per start. This will be an offensive show in a hitter's park. Play the Mariners/Rays Over the total. |

09-21-09 | Indianapolis Colts v. Miami Dolphins UNDER 42 | Top | 27-23 | Loss | -105 | 19 h 7 m | Show |
The Colts (1-0 SU, 0-1 ATS) have a new offensive coordinator, OL coach, defensive coordinator and a new head coach in Jim Caldwell, a longtime Tony Dungy assistant. There are few better than QB Peyton Manning (1 TD, 1 INT), off a season where he had 4,002 yards, 27 TDs and 12 INTs. He has a terrific troika in WR Reggie Wayne and TE Dallas Clark. However slot WR Anthony Gonzalez suffered a strained ligament in his knee and will miss 2 to 6 weeks. The offensive line is a concern, looking awful in preseason as they had no running game, and had just 71 yards rushing to the Jags. The Dolphins (0-1 SU/ATS) are expected by many to slip in 2009 after everything went right last year. They sure looked different in a 19-7 loss at Atlanta, turning it over 4 times, plus the gimmick Wildcat was stuffed utilizing rookie QB/RB Pat White. The offense prefers balance with accurate QB Chad Pennington (19 TDs, 7 INTs, 67% completions, 3,653 yds in 2008) and RBs Ronnie Brown and RB Ricky Williams. The defense played well, stuffing the run and allowed just 281 total yards to a balanced Atlanta offense with a lot of weapons. Miami gave the ball away an NFL-low 13 times in 2008, so the 4 TOs is the first sign this is not 2008. Miami is 12-6 under the total under Coach Tony Sporano and with a sputtering offense and a solid defense look for this contest to go UNDER the total.

09-16-09 | Houston Astros v. Cincinnati Reds OVER 9 | Top | 5-6 | Win | 100 | 25 h 1 m | Show |
High Roller Total of the Year: Astros/Reds Over the total.
The Cincinnati offense is happy to be home after a long road trip. This is an excellent home run park. It's going to help the offense to have these starters on the hill, two guys with below average stuff who also walk everyone. Free passes are essential when examining overs. Houston starter Yorman Bazardo has 11 walks in 13 innings this season. In his last 10 innings he's walked 7 and struck out just one! The Reds aren't much better with Justin Lehr, who may be 2-1 his last three starts, but has walked 11 in those 18 innings, walking more than his strikeouts. Look for an offensive show with a lot of free passes, play the Astros/Reds over the total. |

09-13-09 | Denver Broncos v. Cincinnati Bengals UNDER 43 | Top | 12-7 | Win | 100 | 10 h 34 m | Show |
Have to wonder if Denver will break double digits in this contest. The Broncos looked awful in preseason while learning new schemes under coach Josh McDaniels and obviously they still haven't learned them. QB Kyle Orton had 1 TD and 4 picks in preseason. Orton dislocated his finger and Chris Simms has a sprained ankle, so all that is left is rookie QB Tom Brandstater. McDaniels said there is a possibility that Orton and/or Simms could both miss the first regular season game. The top three receivers are listed as Eddie Royal, Brandon Stokley and Jabar Gaffney. The Bengals offense was horrible in 2008, mainly due to Carson Palmer missing much of the season and Chad Ochocinco sleepwalking through much of the season. With Palmer back and Ochocinco looking to return to form, the passing game should flourish. However, running back is a big question on this team with Cedrid Benson, Dede Dorsey and Brian Leonard. Don't look for a lot of points in this one, especially with a Denver club that will be lucky to get on the scoreboard.

08-31-09 | Washington Nationals v. San Diego Padres OVER 8 | Top | 1-3 | Loss | -117 | 18 h 33 m | Show |
The two teams in the NL with the worst run differential meet up in San Diego as the Padres host the Nationals. The Nationals have the worst team pitching ERA in the league with a 5.46 ERA while the Padres occupy just one rung higher in the rankings with a 5.02 team ERA. While the Padres offense is equally inept (last in runs/game), the Nationals actually can hit. The Nats are sixth in the NL in runs/game and above the league average in both Slugging percentage and home runs. Livan Hernandez makes his second start for the Nats after coming over from the Mets. Hernandez went nine days between his last start for the Mets and his first for the Nationals. Still, the veteran might be on his last legs in the league. He's allowed 20 earned runs in his last 20 1/3 innings. And, coming over from a team like the Mets who at least had a decent bullpen to the Nats and their horrible pen. The Padres roll out Tim Stauffer on Monday. Stauffer finally got a win last time out after losing four straight. Stauffer is now 2-6 on the season with a 4.11 ERA. Neither pitcher will do much here on Monday. This one is just better to take the over and enjoy the show.

08-26-09 | Chicago White Sox v. Boston Red Sox UNDER 10 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 25 h 21 m | Show |
Total of the Year: White Sox/Red Sox Under. Two teams in pennant races battle, with even a Wild Card spot on the line. Both managers will play to win, which means their best bullpen arms will be available in this series. Boston starter Tim Wakefield (11-3) has had a strong season and returns here after battling back spasms for a month. He's tough to hit and has great control for a knuckleballer. The Red Sox also have outstanding bullpen depth. Chicago starter Gavin Floyd (10-8) is a good strikeout pitcher, and has been throwing well, with 19 Ks and only 7 walks the last three starts (20 innings). This is too high a total, play the White Sox/Red Sox Under the total.

08-23-09 | Milwaukee Brewers v. Washington Nationals OVER 9.5 | Top | 3-8 | Win | 100 | 11 h 0 m | Show |
The two teams that allow the most runs per game meet here on Sunday. The Nationals are worst in the NL (5.39 rpg) while the Brewers aren't far behind (5.03 rpg). Brewers' pitchers have also allowed the most home runs in the leage (164) while National pitchers are 2nd worst in free passes (463). Manny Parra starts today for the Brewers. Parra is 2-1 his last three starts with a 6.35 ERA and is 8-9 overall with a 6.33 ERA. Craig Stammen will counter for the Nats. Stammen is 3-6 on the season with a 5.13 ERA and in his one game against the M's this season he allowed five earned runs in just 4 2/3 innings. Despite both teams having terrible pitching, both are above the league average in runs scored by their offenses. Today's contest looks like a slug fest as neither team has much pitching, but decent hitting. Take the OVER

Young, talented arms on the hill. This game should feature a ton of strikeouts and few runs. Dodger stadium is a huge place, a great pitcher's park. For this game, Adam Wainwright and Clayton Kershaw go, two talented young arms. Wainwright has been on a roll, with a 1.31 ERA his last three starts, fanning 14 with no walks! Kershaw has 25 strikeouts his last three starts, covering 15 innings! In his last 10 starts, Wainwright has allowed 2 runs or less in ALL 10 of those! 08-13-09 | New York Yankees v. Seattle Mariners OVER 8.5 | Top | 11-1 | Win | 100 | 27 h 53 m | Show |
The Seattle offense has come to life, recently running off 7 straight games over the total. Now the top offense in baseball comes to town. Ace C.C. Sabathia goes for the Yankees, and he's off an emotional game, shutting down the rival Red Sox. He won't be as focused or fired up for this game. Sabathia ERA is better at home than on the road (3.89 ERA). That won't be a worry, though, as the NY offense should score plenty of Seattle starter Ian Snell (2-8) has been awful, with a 5.42 ERA -- mainly in the NL! He has walked 53 batters in 88 innings, a terrible ratio and a disaster against a great offense like this one. Play the NY Yankees/Mariners Over the total.
