Mack Attack MLB Play of the Day is on the Phillies (Arrieta Listed) This is as much a fade of the Padres as it is a vote of confidence of the Phils. Jake Arrieta looks like he's found his groove after a flat spot and is 2-0 with a 2.37 ERA in his L3. More importantly for our purposes, Philadelphia is 10-5-1 in its L16 home series openers. The Friars are 2-8 L10 and an almost inconceivable 2-21 in their L23 series openers of all kinds. Less than 50 cents with the home team and the better starter on the up escalator is hard to pass up.

DMack's MLB Play of the Day is on the Cubs (Hendricks Listed) The Cards fired their manager before the break to shake things up and but it figure to be same old same old tonight vs. Kyle Hendricks who is off three straight quality starts and has beaten St Louis the last three time he's faced them including June 16th matchup with Carlos Martinez won by the Northsiders 6-3. The homies are 6-2 L8 and have just run down the Brewers to take lead in the NL Central which they probably won't give up. Cubs home, better pitching, and at a fair price ... take the Cubs.

DMack's 2018 MLB All Star Game Super Play is on the American League There is not much in the way of handicapping that you can do with these so it's pretty much a crap shoot all the way around. Remember that while each team would like to win, these days, the emphasis is on getting everyone in and letting the chips fall where they may. Home field in the World Series is no longer determined by the winner of this game but rather the better regular season record. The National League is home and with the last at bat so is anywhere from 30-40 cents. Both teams have scary lineups but top to bottom like the AL pitching and that figures to be the difference in the end. The AL has won five straight and is 17-3-1 since 1996 ... they expect to win and get it done here.

DMack's MLB Play of the Day winner in the Cubs (Lester Listed) The Cubs are getting fat and are close to running down the Brewers with this West Coast swing against slumpers. Jon Lester is 7-0 (2.72) in his L7 and the Cubs have pounded Padre pitching in the first two games of the series. The Friars are just 2-9 L11 at home and just 6-16 against lefties. Lauer is San Diego's best hope of avoiding the sweep but the Cubs are 16-6 against southpaws themselves. Good Lauer numbers gives us nice line value with the Blue Bears.

Mack Attack MLB Play of the Day is on the Arizona DBacks (Greinke Listed) Zack Grienke has been a home field specialist throughout much of his career but the crafty vet is really dialed in at the moment and is rocking a 4-0 (1.78) badge over his L5 overall starts. Sean Newcomb is one of the Braves good young guns at 8-4 with a 3.44 ERA but it looks like he might be hitting the wall in the dog days of summer in the very long MLB season. His ERA is 6.52 over his L4 starts and the Bravos just 2-7 in their L9. Take the Snakes at a very palatable 10 cents.

DMack's MLB Play of the Day is on the Chicago Cubs (Chatwood Listed) If the Cubs are ever going to get Tyler Chatwood going, they couldn't find a better spot then here. Chatwood is 3-5 with a 4.90 ERA and the Blue Bears are 8-8 in his starts but you just can't walk 70 batters in 79 innings of work and expect to stay in the bigs never mind win on any kind of consistent basis. Clayton Richard is 0-2 with a 6.00 ERA in his L3 starts and faces the team from the Northside here that is 15-6 against lefties. 25 cents is a looks to be a bargain here against a team that is 2-8 in their L10 home games.
